We are first and foremost an organised peer support group. Those that support within WARD are Registrar and above junior doctors, who have been through multiple assessments, exams and sign offs; have worked in the NHS for a long time; and can provide impartial vital advice and support on a range of topics including where to find the correct help and support and advice on the more mundane matters of being a junior doctor.

Secondly we are providing education to improve wellbeing on topics such as Mindfulness, Sleep and Fatigue and Physical Health. Through these workshops we advertise the fact that we are a peer support group and how to find us. We promise to stay behind after every session for 10 minutes after the last person has left should anyone want to return for a chat.

Finally, we are aiming to run this model in every trust in the deanery. These local teams will work with a core team to help learn from each other and improve the workshops and support available. This is also important because as every junior doctor moves throughout the deanery, local support services differ but at least one thing will remain solid - there will always be WARD to help support and guide.
