UPDATE 19th March 2020:
Many dates have been cancelled not unsurprisingly due to COVID19. Dates still planned are:
Exeter - 17th July and 29th July (Days 1 and 2)
Truro - 27th July and 24th August (Days 1 and 2)
Bristol - 24th August and 4th September (Days 1 and 2)
If you're interested in peer mentor training, even if you can't go, email mentoring.sw@hee.nhs.uk to express your interest. You'll then get added to their mailing list!
Further dates for venues in Bath, Taunton, Derriford are being sourced for the period September 2020 to March 2021.
From a WARD point of view the purpose of this training is to enable you to have the skills to have “a good conversation” - a term I quite like - cos that’s really what we want WARD doctors to be able to do. There are many of you that already have mentor training which is brilliant. For those of you that don't, this might be something to consider.
The training that the deanery provide as part of their peer mentor training does this quite well. It also gives you the added benefit of being able to become a deanery peer mentor and have a mentee assigned to you. Something that isn’t part of WARD but is a bonus!
Our current deal is that we can have 5 slots on each 2 day course but you don't have to be WARD to apply. The dates are below, please email ASAP to avoid disappointment. The training is only currently open to ST3 and above and GPST2 and above i’m afraid. The date and locations are:
20th April and 28th May 2020 (Derriford)
24th April and 28th May 2020 (Taunton)
27th July and 24th August 2020 (Truro)
13th August and 4th September 2020 (Bristol)
29th May 2020 and 10th July 2020 (Bath)
17th July 2020 and 29th July 2020 (Exeter)
We’d encourage as many WARD ST3 and above and GPST2 and above doctors to apply as you will be the ones providing the support and signposting to our colleagues that need it.
email mentoring.sw@hee.nhs.uk for more information!
